太阳落了，应该说，我跟天空的关系
也就断了，空荡荡的天空犹如前世
月亮升起来了，应该说，我跟夜晚的关系
就更加密切了，空荡荡的黑夜犹如来生
像我这样的人，我还能奢求什么？
我本不是刻意的挖掘者
难道我还能从江水中挖出一把琴来？
我也不是什么了不起的诗人
难道我还能在诗句中，养吾无数的奴才？

The sun has set, and you could say my link to the sky
Is broken; the empty heavens are like my former lifetime
The moon has risen, and you could say my link to the night
Is all the closer; the empty darkness is like my future lifetime
For someone like me, what extravagant hopes can there be?
I am not one who takes pains digging into things
If I dig into a river, don’t tell me I could find a zither
I am not a poet who was born to amaze
My barnyard will never keep a crowd of fawning followers.
