At Yingwuzhou, Send Off Wang the Ninth to Travel Up River

In former days, above the river climb up on the Yellow Crane Tower
Faraway in the middle of the river, lovely Yingwuzhou.
Bluish-green river flows winding, circling around an islet
Mandarin drake and duck, water fowl on the packed sand.

At sunset, another aspect of the sand appears
Golden sand bright and radiant in the changing wind.
Boatmen pulled along with a braided mooring rope
Wash women finish washing curtains and skirts.

Bright full moon, see white reeds and cattails
Wind rises, faraway notice the smell of the duruo
As you travel, let’s not forget one another.

Notes:

Yingwuzhou: City on an island within the Changjiang. (Yangzi River).

Yellow Crane Tower: An historical allusion referring to a story about Feiwen, a Dao Buddhist man.  He was mistaken for a yellow crane among a flock stopping above and on the tower.

Duruo: It is a type of local flower.
